Day 19 jour 19 retour way back

Day 19          Coming back home          Wednesday, 29/06/2026

Up early, taxi at 8am. 

As we check in we find out that our flight will be late 30 min. Who knows, will that be all? After the cancellation of yesterday's flight? Breakfast at Asturias airport. Pass the security check and install ourselves with another tea, coke, juice and wait. Finally our plane lands and we take off at last.....

Land at Stansted airport - bye bye Alison and Andrea - thank you for another wonderful walk together!

I am somewhat lost - 4 hours until my flight to Dinard . I am hanging about in one of the shops near the arrival area when a bip bip bip comes over the loudspeakers: "There has been a fire alarm in one part of the airport! Stay where you are! Do not go anywhere else!"

So I continued for a while hanging about at W H Smith's; there were repeated messages to stay put, but since I was not far from my "drop bag" screen, I went to have a look and found that that was the area being evacuated! And I found myself being evacuated with everybody else....

Since I had my pack still on my back, I crossed the road to the middle partition where I could rest the pack ON the partition and myself AGAINST  the partition. All of this did not take more than half an hour. The airport staff was called back inside and then slowly everybody went back in....

I am still carrying my pack on my back and go to see where and when I can "drop" my "bag". On the screen it just says "Wait" - if only they said the info will be available at such and such a time, I could install myself somewhere and come back then.

As it was, I found myself a chair to sit on - the pack still on my back - and every quarter of an hour I left my chair to check the screen. About an hour later at last I could drop my pack and go.

Late lunch in one of the numerous restaurants; punctual departure of my flight. Punctual arrival in Dinard airport where I find Marie-Claude and Riton waiting for me....

Jour 19          Retour à l maison          Mercredi 29/06/2016

Réveil de bonne heure, taxi à 08 heures.

Lors de l’enregistrement on a découvert que notre vol avait 30 min de retard. Qui sait ? Peut-être autre chose? Après l’annulation du vol d’hier .... 

Petit déjeuner à l’aéroport d’Asturias. Contrôles de sécurité et on s’installe devant encore un thé, café, jus de fruit pour attendre. Finalement notre avion atterrit et on décolle enfin.

Atterrissage à Stansted airport – au revoir Alison et Andrea, merci pour ce bout de chemin parcouru ensemble, c’était agréable.

Je suis un peu perdue : quatre heures d’attente pour mon vol vers Dinard. Je déambule dans une boutique près de la zone d’arrivée quand j’entends un bip bip bip dans les haut parleurs. Alerte au feu dans une partie de l’aéroport ! Restez où vous êtes, n’allez nulle part ailleurs ...

J’ai donc continué à me balader chez W H Smith, il y avait encore des messages demandant de rester sur place; mais alors que j’étais près du panneau d’affichage « dépôt des bagages » je me suis aperçue que c'était cette zone qui était en cours d’évacuation et je me suis trouvée évacuée comme tout le monde.

Comme j’avais toujours mon sac sur le dos j’ai traversé la route jusqu’à la séparation entre les deux voies et j'ai appuyé mon sac SUR et moi-meme CONTRE cette séparation afin de soulager le poids et me poser également. Cela n’a pas duré plus de trente minutes. Le personnel de l’aéroport a été rappelé et ensuit tout le monde est rentré tranquillement.

Je portais toujours le sac sur le dos et je suis allée voir quand je pourrais le déposer. Sur l’écran une seule indication : attendez ! si seulement ils disaient quand on pourrait déposer les sac j’aurai pu m’installer quelque part et revenir ensuite.

J’ai trouvé un fauteuil pour m’asseoir, le sac sur le dos et chaque quart d’heure j’allais vérifier l’écran. Une heure plus tard j’ai pu déposer mon sac et y aller.

Dernier repas dans un des nombreux restaurants, départ à l’heure, arrivée à l’heure à Dinard où j’ai trouvé Marie-Claude et Riton à m’attendre.
