Here I am off again, tomorrow evening by Eurolines bus from Rennes via Bilbao to Salamanca where I stopped last year. The original Roman Via de la Plata (not silver but plata is a corruption of the Arabic “al-balat” indicating a ‘broad surfaced road’).) went from Sevilla to Gijon on the Asturian coast. The camino de Santiago which is known as Via de la Plata leaves the Roman road either at Astorga to continue to Santiago on the Camino Francès or at Granja de Moruela to continue to Santiago as Camino Sanabrès. This is the one I will take thus avoiding the very busy Camino Francès altogether.
As on the previous occasions my two daughters (and may-be my son as well) will walk with me for a few days. On June 20th they will fly into Santiago and then take a bus or a taxi to wherever I will have got to by then.

Me voila de nouveau repartie, demain soir via Eurolines en bus depuis Rennes via Bilbao et jusqu’à Salamanque où je m’étais arretée l’an dernier. La voie romaine originale est nommée “Via de Plata” et “Plata” ne se traduit pas par “argent” car “plata” est une altération du mot arabe “al balat” qui désigne une route large et pavée. Cette route part de Séville à Gijon sur la côte des Asturies. Le chemin de Santiago dénommé Via de Plata quitte la voie romaine soit à Astorga pour rejoindre le chemin des français ou à Granja de Moruela pour rejoindre le “camino Sanabrès”. C’est cette option que je prendrai cela me permettra d'éviter totalement l’autre itinéraire très fréquenté.
Comme les autres fois, mes deux filles et peut être mon fils aussi, marcheront avec moi quelques jours.
Le 20 juin ils prendront un vol vers Santiago puis un bus pour me rejoindre là où je serai arrivée.
