Le Poul Du

Since Saturday evening I am chez Petra and Philippe, practicing a mixture of resting and walking, wining and dining (witness the photograph Bernard has contributed to the blog - I wonder where he got it from???). I bought some equipment to improve my tent which I did and it works(!), but will switch back to the tent for two - in the smaller tent I cannot unpack and pack my rucksack - it so narrow and at the footend it is only 25 cm (10 inches) high and as narrow!
A week ago it rained during the night and started again as I was waking up. So I had breakfast first sitting curled up in the tent, hoping it would stop soon which it did. However not trusting my luck, I used the time when it did not rain to carry all my gear to the wash area of the camping ground to put it under cover and then folded up the wet tent, finishing the packing in the wash area. Since nobody is doing any camping yet, this posed no problem. And in the hotel in Pont L'Abbé I put up everything to dry - can't see how anybody can keep this up for several days without alternating with hotels.

As far as Jo's comment is concerned about wanting to follow the way I am going - I have found that it is too much for me trying to follow the coast path systematically. The coast of Brittany is so complicated and "cut up" that it would take months to do just Brittany. In addition there are stretches of the path which go up and down and up and down in very quick succession. To add to it all there may be bits of rock sticking out over which I balance my weight with great care and extremely slowly - I have no desire to fall, especially not on a cliff edge. So I try to avoid these stretches and find myself some other path near the coast or even inland or stretches of road - it all depends also on where Bernard (Papy Velo who finds me accommodation as I go along - I indicate roughly where I might get to on a particular day and he finds me accommodation via the internet) - so it depends also where Bernard has found a hotel or B&B or camping ground for me. I remember one day where I was on the road practically all day for 25 km. Mostly now I have a nice mixture of coast path, other paths and road.

Well, so much for today - I do not know where I will find another computer, so back to the reports of my helpers.

  1. Liebes Inchen,
